About Ysgol Dôlafon

Ysgol Dôlafon nestles by the side of spectacular Afon Irfon (River Irfon) in the town of Llanwrtyd Wells – the smallest town in the UK.  The school is fortunate to be located in fantastically wonderful and picturesque grounds and surroundings. We are a small primary school with children aged between 4 - 11 years. We also have a vibrant three-year old setting on site, known as ‘Dôlafon Ducklings’.

We are an English medium school, and embrace a range of cultures, traditions and languages to develop our sense of ‘Cynefin’. Welsh is our second language and we are proud to participate in Eisteddfod competitions. Our school curriculum is embedded in our school vision and reflects the principles and ethos of the Curriculum for Wales.

We have extensive school grounds, comprising of two playgrounds and a large grassy play area which enable children to participate in a wider range of outdoor activities.  There are sports pitches and hard standing areas for traditional games such as hopscotch or just to run around!

We are proud of our various outdoor areas which contain a variety of habitats, including a rough meadow, woodland, orchard and pond.  We strongly believe that an effective learning environment is both the indoors and outdoors, and plan exciting opportunities for children to explore, discover and learn within a range of environments. There is also a vegetable garden and plenty of areas where wildlife can flourish. The children have  input into designing and developing these areas, supported by staff, parent volunteers and governors, and continue to enjoy them through varied learning experiences, enhancing their learning through direct exploration of the outdoors.

Further details and information can be found on our school website or in the school prospectus.
