About Ysgol Dôlafon

Ysgol Dôlafon lies beside the beautiful River Irfon in Llanwrtyd Wells – the smallest town in the UK. Surrounded by stunning scenery, our school enjoys picturesque grounds that provide the perfect setting for authentic learning. We are a small, friendly primary school for children aged 4–11, with an exciting on-site provision for three-year-olds, known as Dôlafon Ducklings.

As an English-medium school, we embrace a wide range of cultures, traditions and languages, developing our strong sense of Cynefin. Welsh is taught as our second language, and we are proud to take part in various Eisteddfod competitions. Our ‘Teulu’ curriculum is rooted in our school vision and reflects the principles and ethos of the Curriculum for Wales, as we prepare our children for the wider world, empowering them to become the very best they can be!

We have extensive grounds which include two playgrounds, a large grassed play area, and sports pitches. We are especially proud of our outdoor learning environment, which feature a woodland, orchard, pond, meadow, and vegetable garden. These areas provide rich opportunities for exploration, discovery and hands-on learning. Designed and cared for with the help of staff, parents, governors and pupils themselves, our outdoor spaces continue to grow and flourish—just like our learners.
