About Class 2
Class 2 consists of learners in years 3 to 6
Dosbarth 2 / Class 2
In Class 2, we enjoy a rich variety of learning experiences designed to spark curiosity and keep us fully engaged. Our mornings are dedicated to Languages, Literacy and Communication (LLC), as well as Mathematics and Numeracy, providing a strong foundation for essential skills.
Our afternoons allow us to explore the remaining Areas of Learning and Experience, including Health and Wellbeing, Humanities, Expressive Arts, and Science and Technology. Whenever possible, we make full use of our fantastic outdoor spaces and take our learning outside. We also ensure that meaningful opportunities to develop children’s digital competency skills are woven throughout our activities.
“We have interesting topics like the Epynt because it is local and means something to us”, Year 6 pupil
“We like leading the community events like Macmillan Coffee Afternoon, the Harvest Festival and Christingle”, Year 5 pupil
We encourage our learners to take an active role in shaping both what they learn and how they learn it. Our open-ended learning chapters invite curiosity, exploration and deep engagement, while Amser Darganfod (Discovery Time) provides opportunities for learners to use their creativity, innovation and problem‑solving skills as they tackle independent challenges.
As ambitious and capable learners, the children in Class 2 take pride in planning, organising and leading a wide range of events, including Macmillan Coffee Afternoons, Children in Need activities, Harvest Festivals, Christmas Fayres, Christingle Services and much more. These experiences help them take ownership of their learning, feel empowered, and apply their skills to meaningful, real-life contexts.
We further enrich our curriculum through a variety of visits, workshops and hands‑on learning experiences, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn in exciting and authentic ways.
”We have a voice and ownership in our learning. We can be creative and decide how we present our work”, Year 4 pupil
“I like Amser Darganford because we get to work independently, in pairs or groups, and we can be creative”, Year 3 pupil.
